York Stop the Cuts will be opening a Picket Support Centre in a church hall between 7am and 11am, where we’ll have a map of all the picket lines, and from which we’ll be filling flasks and sending them to picket lines. All picket lines will have a mobile number to call the centre with requests. We need people to arrive from 7am: - We need kitchen staff, ‘runners’, and people to help co-ordinate. - We can also send people to picket lines to cover gaps on the day. - Bring food and snacks to be sent out to picket lines - If you have them, bring your own flasks, or we’ll send you with ours (attach a label with your name and mobile). - If you can bring a bike or even a car, we can send you to pickets a little further away. We want to get the first round of hot drinks out of the centre to picket lines at 8am, and to get food out at 9am. After that, we’ll serve tea and coffee to people arriving from picket lines and send a final round of hot drinks for 10am. We’ll be on pack-down from 10.15am. Organised by York Stop the Cuts. Assemble 12noon at Clifford’s Tower Rally 1-2pm at York Minster Join over a thousand people from across York and North Yorkshire for a march of unity with those on strike and those facing cuts to vital services. This will be the biggest march in York for 8 years, and we’re determined to use it as a symbol of unity against the media’s divisive messages over the strikes. Whichever sector you work in, this is an attack on the idea that ordinary people deserve a retirement. Whichever services you use, this is an attack on those who provide those services. Our negotiations with police have centred around making this a family-friendly event, because that’s exactly what this should be: every generation and every walk of life together against the cuts. We won’t be able to produce placards for everyone, so please start designing your own, and make arrangements to gather with friends, colleagues and neighbours to join with the march. If we hear of any feeder marches, we’ll be posting them here.
